What techniques do the Daily Mail and The Sun use to appeal to their target audiences?
The Daily Mail and The Sun are both big profit making and largely known newspapers, however they both have noticeable differences and similarities. The Daily Mail is edited by Paul Dacre and The Sun is owned by Rupert Murdoch. In addition to this, there is some controversy by Rupert Murdoch as some people state that the owners of the press are too powerful and use their power and money to put forward their own personal views and promote their own interests, e.g. a political party. However, others would argue that there is no link between press ownership and content as editors simply give readers what they want. Despite both arguments, each newspaper attracts very different audiences through the content they publish, stories they focus on and techniques they use.
The Daily Mail and The Sun are both red top tabloids, meaning each newspaper tends to focus more on issues within society, celebrity scandals and gossip.
Some people argue that
Audience – The type of newspapers the sun and daily mail are and who the target audiences are for each paper
News values – stories. What kind of stories does each newspaper focus on? How might these appeal to their target audience?
Colours – what kinds of colours has each of the newspaper used? What kind of image do they give the paper and how might these colours appeal to the target audience?
Pictures – what pictures have been used in each paper? How would these pictures appeal to the target audience?
Written language – what kind of written language is used in each paper? What kind of image does it give the paper? How would the written language appeal to the target audience?
Fonts – What kind of fonts are used? What kind of image do they create for the paper? How would this appeal to the target audience?
Layout of the page – How is the page laid out? What kind of image does this create and how would it appeal to the target audience?

really annoyed/fed up - massive headache, feel groggy, room looks groggy, have school things to prepare for tomorrow and just can’t get on top of it all. wish i could just meet a great group of girls and boys that could fly away with me to somewhere hot and sunny. just want to dance, drink (been watching too much sun sex and suspicious parents perhaps) and have no worries. then want to be able to lay on a sandy beach, listening the sound of the waves, sipping on an ice cold fizzy drink, smell the fresh summer air and just get lost in blissful peace. but right now i have to stop dreaming and get on with today’s tasks. fed. up.
